Day 17 ‘Icon’ – 13/12/09
I spotted this a couple of weeks ago getting the tube to Bank, and finally managed to catch this on camera. I liked the simplicity and the symmetry of this shot, and was pleased with the way this came out. Considering over 90% of my blog will be in and around London, I’m glad to have finally caught an iconic image of London’s underground system.
UPDATE: Based on feedback i have reworked the image above to include the Canary Wharf Tube sign as well. In hindsight perhaps it does work better this way? I was going for a less is more approach before, trying to suggest the icon rather than reveal it.

The colours are wonderful in this photo. The red and the stone seat… want to see more of it : )
Would perhaps have liked to see a little more of the sign so it could be identified as London transport. An excellent shot nonetheless that catches the eye.
Have tweaked based on the feedback…would be interested to see if you think the second version is an improvement?
From a personal point of view the subject matter is clearer and we like it more.
I prefer the original shot. I could still identify it as the tube logo, cleaner without the verbiage.
