Day 280: Losing Control
Day 280 ‘Losing Control’ – 02/09/10
This is a revisit to Day 68 with an ICM “Intentional Camera Movement” twist. This is another image of my mouse, but with intentional blurring to change the dynamic of the shot. It is quite interesting, for me, to revisit some of the images and spots i have used on my project to see how i can now look at them with fresh eyes. Whether this is a better image or not is open to debate, but it is definitely not an image i would have taken 212 days ago!!!!
Day 278: Snail Shell
Day 278 ‘Snail Shell’ – 31/08/10
This is my first ‘Camera Toss’ attempt, I finally felt brave enough to give this a try. For those that don’t know this literally involves you flinging the camera into the air (no hands) as you take the image. This was done in the relative safety of the living room, and is in fact an episode of friends on the TV! So here is my first, likely not my last ‘Camera Toss’, ‘Intentional Camera Movement’ image of my project 365!
Day 249: Building Site
Day 249 ‘Building Site’ – 02/08/10
I’m liking Borders at the moment, not sure if I need to stop using them or not? This is a twisty (twisting the camer 180 degrees) intentional camera movement shot of the building site that i previously took on Day 200. Finally the cranes have gone after almost 2 year, i’ll be interested to see how quickly the building comes up now!
Day 235: Brighton Beach
Day 235 ‘Brighton Beach’ – 19/07/10
Another attempt at Intentional Camera Movement ‘ICM’, this time on Brighton beach, trying to capture the essence of a sunny day on the coast. This captures the stones, the sea, the sky and the people enjoying a day on the beach.
Day 231: From the Ashes
Day 231 ‘From the Ashes’ – 15/07/10
It’s been a while since my last ‘Intentional Camera Movement’ or ICM photo. I have been meaning to take this shot of these two building i pass on my way home from work for a while. For some reason i like the fact that the one on the left reminds me a bit of a Playstation 2! I deliberately darkened the trees and buildings in the foreground to create the almost blotted ink feel.
Day 200: Construction
Day 200 ‘Construction’ – 14/06/10
This has ended up nothing like i intended, but i like it much more like this, has a real gritty, depressing urban feel i think? This also seems like a nice follow up to the similarly abstract camera rage, sometimes i forget why i am doing this project, and then days like today i remember. Whether nobody else likes this i am really pleased with this image, and it has reminded me to keep on experimenting with ‘intentional camera movement’. What is interesting is that I am finding that with this style of photography there is a lot of feeling that is/can be added in the processing.
Day 184: Park Life
Day 184 ‘Park Life’ – 29/05/10
This is another ‘intentional camera movement’ photo that was shot in the park near my home. The style has been inspired a little by Steric who made me think about trying this with starker blacks.
Day 178: Rain at Sea
Day 178 ‘Rain at Sea’ – 23/05/10
From blazing sunshine to a brief storm in the evening, i tried some intentional camera movement to get the drama of the rain in this shot!
Day 167: My Green City
Day 167 ‘My Green City’ – 12/05/10
Yet another ‘intentional camera movement’ photo, although i had intended to post up another shot for today which didn’t really work out as I wanted. This is a shot of the park and buildings near my office, i liked this shot as it shows the nicer sides of inner city life!
Day 162: Into Ossiriand
Day 162 ‘Into Ossiriand’ – 07/05/10
The title is an homage to Lord of the Rings, and the idea is this is like a vortex of green leaves as you enter the Kingdom of Ossiriand. This is an almost identical shot to Day 158′s ‘Feeling Green’ but i was playing with the ‘Landscape Blur’ technique and twisting the camera as i took the photo. I like the sense of movement and hint of detail this created from this green leafy setting.
Day 154: Thames Pier
Day 154 ‘Thames Pier’ – 29/04/10
This is my second ‘landscape blur’ post, am loving this style introduced to me by Mr Ray Rhodes! I’m finding it is great for capturing some locations that i’ve been trying to photograph for a while. This old pier is very close to my home, but i’ve not found a way to photograph it sucesfully before. But this seems to really work well as a blur shot. I am definitely going to have a few more of these shots coming up, as they seem to find a nice balance between my love of detail, but desire for abstraction.
