London Cyclist: City Limits

I was delighted to get hold of the June – July edition of London Cyclist today, to find out that the 20mph photos i took for them a while back made the cut for their City Limits article. It was really nice in particular to see the double page leading shot, which is to date the most impressive photo of mine that i have seen in print, that i haven’t personally printed and paid for icon smile City Limits I will definitely try my hand at another assignment for them again if i get the chance, now that i know my afternoon wandering the backstreets of the City were not wasted.

Tale of two Cities

I liked the way that this dense wall of graffiti was like a border or barrier to the distant untouched buildings in Cagliari. It was quite hard to work out the right angle to get this at, and in the end i went with something tight with the line of the wall. Not sure this was the right approach, but i only took a couple of shots both along the same lines so have nothing else to go back to.

Wandering round the streets of Cagliari in Sardinia was a minefield/goldmine for graffiti depending on your perspective. I liked the contemplative face in this almost monochrome scene, with the splash of colour thrown in by the pink tags in the shot.

This is another shot from almost the same location on the lead up to Chia Beach, i loved the beautiful blue sky and sea. I have never been anywhere before where the beach has been sandwiched between so many layers of blue, and i think this worked with the silhouetted figures walking along the beach.

Out to Sea

Finally started to post up some of my photos from my trip to Sardinia. This was shot on the walk out to Chia beach, i thought the view was amazing with the boardwalk and the spit of sand in the distance between the inland water and the sea! Not sure if this is toooo processed, but i really liked the stark black and white for this shot.

I was very excited to take this photo on Chia Beach in Sardinia. This is the first time i have been able to take a long exposure shot with my new Fuji X100 using the B+W ND 110 filter that arrived the day before leaving for holiday. Combined with the internal ND filter this was a 13 stop reduction which meant i could take a 30 second exposure in blazing sunlight!

When we arrived at the beach I was instantly drawn to trying to get a few shots of this old pier (?) before settling down to a busy afternoon of lazing and reading in the sun!

Nothing Left to Say

Again i’m trawling through the un-posted images from my Project 365 year. For some reason I found myself over the course of the year being drawn in particular to the walls where the advertising had been removed. This has been cropped as a widescreen image to exaggerate the empty space which is what i like about the image. Maybe not everyones cup of tea, but this appeals to my sense of minimalism.

The Wrong Day

This photo was taken whilst i was hunting down 20mph signs around London Bridge, and was in fact the only interesting picture i managed to take whilst i was there! Just had a lot of things to do, hence it has taken me a while to post up. I have quite a fondness for these dark black and white archways, so here is another to add to my collection.
