Day 270: Highlighters
Day 270 ‘Highlighters’ – 23/08/10
Perhaps too much, but i deliberately over saturated the green (and splash of yellow) in this shot. I decided that i wanted a splash of colour for todays image and was drawn to the green mossy walls (again), however felt this worked as a selective colour image with the scene in general in black and white!
Day 208: Black Magic
Day 208 ‘Black Magic’ – 22/06/10
This is a retake of the’Magic Wand’ from day 88, i loved the way this looked with the reflections of the clouds in the sky. So as to add a twist from the original, this time it is in stark black and white, giving a different abstract feel.
Day 136: From Millwall Docks
Day 136 ‘From Millwall Docks’– 11/04/10
I was torn between black and white, and colour for this shot, so went for my blend of selective colouring again. I think this works nicely to capture this urban city skyline of Canary Wharf from Millwall Docks. I was torn with posting up another photo for today, but it was one i can potentially take any time, so have banked it for an uninspired day down the line.
Day 129: Memories of 1998 from a Disposable Camera
Day 129 ‘Memories of 1998 from a Disposable Camera’– 04/04/10
There have been a couple of posts recently i have seen that have inspired this photo, one of Miyajima gate and a one of old memories. These inspired me to dig through some of my old photos, that i took back in 1998 when i spent 3 months in Tokyo. I was quite lonely at the time being miles away from home, and amused myself by spending hours in HMV and also with some black and white disposable cameras. I thought this would make an interesting shot, and i might also post up some of these scanned in, as i think they are lovely shots (at least for me they are).
Above you have shots of Tokyo Tower, The Imperial Place, Tokyo City, Downtown Ginza, Miyajima Gate and the only building left standing from the Hiroshima Bomb.
Day 125: On the Straight and Narrow
Day 125 ‘On the Straight and Narrow’– 31/03/10
Another close to straight out the camera shot today, only a minor tweak into black and white from the original on the way into work this morning. Again this is a re-take of a former shot that didn’t quite make the 365, this time though with the added element of the morning commuter.
Day 109: Just Waiting for the Trains to Come
Day 109 ‘Just Waiting for the Trains to Come’– 15/03/10
Sometimes i need to learn to have the courage of my convictions! I really liked this shot on its own, but needed a positive confirmation on my Flickr stream that perhaps it worked much better on it’s own than as part of a Diptych! So here we are ‘Just Waiting for the Trains to Come” at Liverpool Street Station

Day 59: Black and White
Day 59 ‘Black and White’ – 24/01/10
This is a photo of a wall at Embankment London Underground Station, presumably in-between advertising posters. I liked the absolute simplicity of this shot, and decided to keep the grain on the white section as i think it gives it more character.
Day 58: Bleeding Through
Day 58 ‘Bleeding Through’ – 23/01/10
A morning trip to the post office took me past this spot, i liked the way the vent seemed to be bleeding black from the wall of the building. Playing around with the shot at home, and realising Black and White just wasn’t right for this took me into Colour Efex Pro. I found a way of brining down the localised contrast down to give this a slightly blurred and abstract look which i was quite pleased with. There is a small chance of a bonus shot for today as tonight i’m being treated to a meal out for my birthday (just gone by)!
Day 48: The World and The World As I See It
Day 48 ‘The World and The World As I See It’ – 13/01/10
I was pretty fixated with taking a photo of the Number 48 today, there is even a spot I had staked out pretty much since Day 1. However i took this photo as i came down the escalators into Canary Wharf Station at lunch and thought it would be interesting to do a Diptych for todays post. The title (and the left hand pane) is supposed to be a slight parody of my obsession with Black and White photography. In the end i quite liked this as something different, and number 48 will have to wait for another day
Day 40: Floating Lotus
Day 40 ‘Floating Lotus’ – 05/01/10
For some reason i feel slightly disappointed in this shot, i thought it was going to look much more dramatic with the contrast between the different architectural elements. I was persuaded by my girlfriend to process this in colour, and agree it looks much better this way than in Black and White. This shot was taken on another lunchtime walk, which seems to be the preferred method for shifting some of the festive periods weight gain! Unfortunately we keep finding places, like this restaurant, that we would like to go and eat in. Perhaps at some point i will have a picture of the inside?

Day 37: As He Faced The Sun
Day 37 ‘As He Faced The Sun’ – 02/01/10
Todays photo is a simple shot of lines and shadows. Particularly the lamppost casting it’s shadow on the wall behind. This is a spot i have walked past and ignored for along time, and today my girlfriend pointed out the shadows on the wall, and i decided to try and capture it. Again i have processed in quite a dark black and white, as it seemed to pull out the shadows. I’ll have to try and grab some color into my blog over the coming days to balance it all out!
Day 36: Wish Upon a Star
Day 36 ‘Wish Upon a Star’ – 01/01/10
Happy New Year…todays photo is of a canal bridge near home. I don’t often walk around here at night, and liked the way it was lit up by all the lights in the area. I also liked the way the plane flying past looked like a sooting star, captured on a slow exposure. Overall i was pretty pleased with the effect, just took a long time to decide whether to process in Black and White or colour.
