Day 210: We Will Fight them on the Beaches
Day 210 ‘We Will Fight them on the Beaches’ – 24/06/10
I’ll have to strike up yesterdays photo as another MISS for the project, although i quite liked it’s simple structure. Back down onto the beaches this morning, and i liked this little bit of broken glass, in which i see the word WAR. I am sure it is not really War, or even the letter W, but it looks like it to me. So here is a splash of something diferant, and for the first time in a few days some colour!
Day 185: Framing Warwick
Day 185 ‘Framing Warwick’ – 30/05/10
This is a little bit of a throw away shot, but quite liked the framing around one if the turrest of Warwick Castle. Also a touch of Pre World Cup patriotism with the St Georges Cross on the tower
Day 172: Parking for a Bit
Day 172 ‘Parking for a Bit’ – 17/05/10
Todays shot is of the bicycle parking facilities near my office, it is a snatched shot, nothing deliberate in the framing and composition! I punked this into black and white to add a little bit of drama and interest!
Day 90: Sandwich
Day 90 ‘Sandwich’ – 24/02/10
Perhaps not the most inspiring photo to mark the completion of 25% of my project 365, but i do like the stark lines and angles in this shot. This is a patch of wall for the pedestrian walkover the Limehouse Link tunnel, which i have been meaning to capture for quite some time now. Recently i have started to feel a little bit of photographers block on the challenge but a determined to keep the distance!
Day 45: Brighton Pier
Day 45 ‘Brighton Pier’ – 10/01/10
I had a tough choice for photos for today. I had taken a number of shots of the pier and the beach, but i liked the way this shot worked. With the old Brighton Pier coming in on the right hand side, and the breakwater leading into the shot. I also like the little bit of drama created by the waves in the foreground.
Day 19: Childhood
Day 19 ‘Childhood’ – 15/12/09
What to take a photo of when your sick and at home for the day. I thought the old tatty spines of the Beano and Dandy comic libraries i used to love as a child might be interesting? Certainly something a little bit different to my other posts, and this takes me back over 20 years, to when i loved the adventures of “The Bash Street Kids” and “Dennis the Menace”.

Day 1: All the Leaves
Day 1 ‘All The Leaves’ - 27/11/09
Not a lot of great things have happened on the 27th of November, and this is sure fit into the ranks of great historical non events! Inspired by photojojo.com and the film Julie and Julia i have decided today to start my Project 365 photo blog. The goal is simple, take a photo a day, every day for a year.
By the end of this project i hope to have:-
- become a better photographer, although Henri Cartier-Bresson said that “Your first 10,000 photographs are your worst.” which would mean i may have 27 years to go.
- documented a year of my life, in a way have never done before.
- take at least a few photographs i am proud of.
- hopefully learn a little bit more about myself in the process.
So, for Day 1 perhaps not the most inspiring photo, but i had to start somewhere. It’s been raining lots (and lots) the last few days, and on my way to work there was a giant puddle with all the autumn leaves floating in it. In my deep consideration of whether or not to take the photo i managed to put my foot straight into the puddle. So that decided it, i was not getting a wet foot for nothing! Anyway i hope you like my first photo “All the Leaves”
This is actually my first photo with my new camera (Canon S90) which i bought specifically to help me on my mission. It’s all good and well having a great camera, but the best camera is the one you have on you, and this one is nice and small so i have no excuses.
