Can You Tell What it is Yet?

This is the final post from the Mastering Composition Photo Walk with Steve Davey. This photo is capturing a group of people making sand sculptures on the banks of the Thames. The key tip from Steve for this shot was to make sure we got St Pauls into the frame, making sure this was an iconic image of London, rather than a beach shot from anywhere in the world.

Living in a Box

This is one of the final shots i’ll be posting up from the Mastering Composition Photo Walk with Steve Davey. This shot for me is all about the man spending his days in a plastic seagull on London’s Southbank.

Standing Guard

This photo of what i think is quite a grumpy looking seagull was taken whilst i was waiting to order Pasties at the tea shop on St Michaels Mount near Penzance in Cornwall. I was really impressed how well this shot came out and the zoom on the Sony Cybershot HX95, which is definitely proving itself to be a nice companion to the much more serious Fuji X100.

Life on the Rocks

This photo was taken using the ND10 filter of St Michaels Mount near Penzance in Cornwall. I did have a mini disaster in the the wind caught the tripod, which could have ended in disaster, but i managed to catch the camera with the Shutter Release cable preventing it all ending up on the wet sandy beach. The shutter release cable sadly didn’t survive which meant that i didn’t quite get the shot i wanted for the day.

Where Waldo

This was a crowd shot i took a the Take That concert on Wednesday, i liked it it black and white as it seemed to fit the crowd scene. At the last minute though i was tempted for just a dash of selective color with the pink foam hand of one of the crowd, not sure if it ruins or makes the photo….obviously i hope it makes it!

Targets Sighted

Perhaps an unusual photo to post up from the Take That gig we saw in Wembley yesterday, but i really liked this scene that i caught as i was testing out the zoom at the beginning of the night. Something about the characters and the lines in this scene i find really appealing. Also this is my first post with my seriously unprofesional Sony HX9V taken on full auto, not that there is really any other option!

London Cyclist: City Limits

I was delighted to get hold of the June – July edition of London Cyclist today, to find out that the 20mph photos i took for them a while back made the cut for their City Limits article. It was really nice in particular to see the double page leading shot, which is to date the most impressive photo of mine that i have seen in print, that i haven’t personally printed and paid for I will definitely try my hand at another assignment for them again if i get the chance, now that i know my afternoon wandering the backstreets of the City were not wasted.

Mr and Mrs Newman

Yesterday my cousin Tina got married at St Paul’s Church in Beckenham, this is one of the few photo’s i took on the day of the new Mr and Mrs Newman leaving the church in a shower of confetti.

Iceberg Melting

I was very excited to take this photo on Chia Beach in Sardinia. This is the first time i have been able to take a long exposure shot with my new Fuji X100 using the B+W ND 110 filter that arrived the day before leaving for holiday. Combined with the internal ND filter this was a 13 stop reduction which meant i could take a 30 second exposure in blazing sunlight!

When we arrived at the beach I was instantly drawn to trying to get a few shots of this old pier (?) before settling down to a busy afternoon of lazing and reading in the sun!

Almost 365: Kebab

This image was another Eggleston inspired photo taken on Day 64 of my project 365. This was capturing an empty scene in a kebab restaurant near London Bridge. Again as with alot of the image like this I can’t quite decide what i think of this picture, but there is something that draws me to this.
