My First Planet: Planet Docklands

I have wanted to make one of these ‘photo planets’ for quite some time now, and never seemed to find a tutorial i understood. Inspired by wanting to do something with my rather uninspiring X100 Test Panorama I decided to have another go.  I found this tutorial that talked through creating a planet using Gimp, so here it is my Test Panorama turned into a slight scrappy planet of London’s Canary Wharf.  I’m definitely going to have another go down the line, particularly if i can find a day with a more even sky, as i had to play around a lot to even get this make to look this good! This has provided me a brand new purpose to the panorma mode on the Fuji Finepix X100.

Day 323 ‘Seeing Sound’ – 15/10/10

This is another ‘intentional camera movement’ image, taken on a long exposure as i walked home along the Thames. This image is the lights on the far side of the Thames, with the night time river and sky above and below.

Day 235 ‘Brighton Beach’ – 19/07/10

Another attempt at Intentional Camera Movement ‘ICM’, this time on Brighton beach, trying to capture the essence of a sunny day on the coast. This captures the stones, the sea, the sky and the people enjoying a day on the beach.

Day 181 ‘Like Sky Through a Fence’ – 26/05/10

This is a shot of some tiles on a Gym that i walk past on the way home, i thought this looked a little like a wire fence when it was turned on it’s side., hence the name.

Day 159 ‘Marshmallow’ – 04/05/10

Just a simple shot for today, i liked the look of this little white cloud in the sky and thought it deserved to be preserved for prosterity!

Day 21 ‘The Architect of Me’ – 17/12/09

Back to work today and i thought i’d try and capture a shot of the construction going on near my work. Perhaps as i get towards the end of this project i will be able to show what has been built? I deliberately wanted to make this a dark and moody shot to draw the emphasis to the lines painted in the sky by the cranes.
