Day 265: Still a Long Way to Paddle

DAY0265 Long Way to Paddle 594x950 Day 265: Still a Long Way to Paddle

Day 265 ‘Still a Long Way to Paddle’ – 18/08/10

So to mark the beginning of my last 100 countdown (from 265 to 365) London offered me up a beautiful analogy! I spotted this canoe paddling his way down the Thames, and felt that this fitted very well the idea of the journey i have done so far with my 265 photos, and the journey left to go for the last 100!

Day 253: Three Wise Monkeys

DAY0254 A Differant View 950x712 Day 253: Three Wise Monkeys

Day 254 ‘Three Wise Monkeys’ – 07/08/10

We went to Greenwich today to get the dog groomed, and met up with my sister for a spot of lunch in the market. We took a little walk along the Thames afterwards, and spotted this nice view into Canary Wharf with the old industrial structures in the foreground. The title is referring to the 3 birds (cormorants i think) sitting watching the world go by.

DAY0250 Silversea on the Thames 950x593 Day 250: Silver on the Thames

Day 250 ‘Silversea on the Thames’ – 03/08/10

Walking home i caught this shot of the Silversea Cruise ship being tugged down the Thames. The cruise ship looks enormous as it cruises past, dwarfing the buildings on either side of the river. I am hoping one day to be in the right spot to capture this coming past our flat, as it literally looks like a wall in front of the building!

Walking the dog this morning, we spotted this heron on what appears to be some new junk washed up on the shores of the Thames.

Day 23o ‘Something Old Something New’ – 14/07/10

I thought todays shot was a little to similar to yesterday, as it had a retro feel I thought it might spice it up to revisit it in the Polariod maker i used on Day 43! I love these old sail boats they seem to charter up and down the Thames, and the dramatic light and skyline seemed to fit the mood perfectly.

A simple texture shot for a lazy Sunday, this is a view down onto the Thames from the park near my flat.

Day 225 ‘Oil Rig’ or ‘East London Oil’ – 09/07/10

Not sure quite what this structure is doing in the Thames near my home, i do know that it really isn’t an Oil Rig! Something unusual though for my daily commute.

Day 213: Pillar

DAY0213 Pillar 1 950x950 Day 213: Pillar

Day 213 ‘Pillar’ – 27/06/10

Deliberately overexposed when shot, and underexposed when processed. I wanted to find a way of capturing this pillar on the thames with the distractions of the skyline behind it, this i think has done the trick and captured the shot i had in my  mind. This is on the beach near my flat, and I have been meaning to take this shot since i started the project, just never quite found a way to do it until today.

A Day in Docklands

A Day in Docklands

a photo essay by ProphecyBlur

This Cold City

It’s a cold frosty morning as the sun rises, starting another day in London’s Docklands.

DAY0138 IMG 3149 590x442 A Day in Docklands

It’s still early, so I head down onto the banks of the Thames to look around the broken down ruins from a time now past.

Just Passing

I set of towards work, enjoying the diferant architecture arround me as I walk.

DAY0126 My Walk to Work a CCTV Story 590x472 A Day in Docklands

So many CCTV camera’s watching my progress. I start to count them as i walk, but lose count somewhere around 50.

DAY0207 The Unknown Commuter 442x590 A Day in Docklands

I join the ranks of the Unknown Commuters

DAY0205 Saturday Night Tube 590x331 A Day in Docklands

I remember mornings catching the crowded underground into work.

Cleaning the Winter Garden

Later, as I stand by the coffee machine I notice two men across from watering the roof of the Wintergarden.

Never Walk Alone

At lunchtime I take a walk around the old docks, enjoying the fresh air.

Two workers cross the bridge in front of me, stepping perfectly in synch with one and other.

DAY0005 Nine 2 Five 590x444 A Day in Docklands

The day becomes night, and  office lights make buildings look like giant circuit boards.

DAY0112 The Mothership Has Landed 590x442 A Day in Docklands

It is late as I walk home. The DLR station is quiet, looking like the belly of a space craft.

Wish Upon a Star

I cross canals and bridges on my way home.

A plane crosses the night like a shooting star.

DAY0009 Paradise City 590x391 A Day in Docklands

I am lucky, i have a warm bed tonight.

Not everyone here is as lucky as me.

Day 209: Tidelands

DAY0209 Tidelands 950x712 Day 209: Tidelands

Day 209 ‘Tidelands’ – 23/06/10

I was struck by the lines made by the light, the tide and the waves on this strip of Thames Beach. Deliberately underexposed to draw out the contrast in these sections, a slightly different shot for todays photo.

Day 203: Globe Wharf

DAY0203 Globe Wharf 2 950x534 Day 203: Globe Wharf

Day 203 ‘Globe Wharf’ – 17/06/10

Somewhat of a departure from recent photos, here is a shot of the Globe Wharf building as one of the sail boats that runs along the Thames was going past. This was a decisive moment, camera in my pocket shot, and maybe another nice reminder of the better sides of the part of East London we live in.

Day 170 ‘Green Ghosts’ – 15/05/10

This was snapped down on the banks of the thames, i loved the way the moss (if that is what it is) was growing over this chain. This seemed to have echos of the past, hence the title of the photo.
